Home Alone, It’s a Wonderful Life, Love Actually, Die Hard, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Frozen, and Elf are among this year’s free Holiday Movies at the Plaza Theatre.
With the fall and holiday seasons upon us, plans are in place for a fun and festive holiday season in downtown El Paso. After pausing for a season in 2020, the Holiday Movies at the Plaza Theatre are back with an impressive lineup of free holiday movies.
As part of the City of El Paso’s sixth annual WinterFest, November 20 through January 2, 2021, the El Paso Community Foundation Plaza Classic Film Festival and El Paso Live announce the return of Holiday Movies at the historic Plaza Hotel.
This year, El Pasoans can enjoy the free film series featuring 11 movies over six weekends beginning Sunday, November 21. Attendees will also be treated to an authentic Plaza Classic style experience as an organist will perform on the Plaza Theatre’s original, restored Wyler Mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ before each movie.
Holiday Movies at the Plaza Theatre have become a new tradition for many El Paso families, including my own. This year’s free holiday event will surely please many, including one of my all-time favorites, such as Love Actually starring Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, and Keira Knightley. The film series will feature 11 movies over the six weekends, including A Christmas Story and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and The Santa Claus. The schedule will also include Die Hard, which may or may not be considered a holiday movie, depending on who you ask.
The chill in the air, the lights of WinterFest, and the smell of fall make this family outing a memorable experience you won’t want to miss.
