With spooky season truly upon us, here are some new shows and flicks to add to your watchlist, to get you super pumped for the spooky holiday! Let’s get into it! Kicking it off with Peacock’s new drama, “One of Us is Lying” which follows five teens that end up in detention together, but only four of those students get out alive Based on the bestselling novel by the same name, the movie is basically like if ‘The Breakfast Club’ was a murder mystery. Each of the high schoolers trapped in detention together are from separate cliques in the school, and although it’s based on the same character types as The Breakfast Club, the show digs deeper into each of their personalities Those characters include a brainy student, a drug-dealing troublemaker, a star athlete, a super popular girl, and an outcast whose been running a ‘Gossip Girl’ like app that’s been spilling everyone in the schools secrets And when that student winds up dead, each of the surriving four tries to solve the murder mystery Secrets are exposed and some of the students grow closer while some lives are completely upended by the drama. And fans are already absolutely loving it! But, if murder mystery isn’t your thing and your’e more interested in a vampire fantasy, may we suggest the new Netflix movie, Night Teeth? The film follows the story of a college student named Benny, who in need of extra cash decides to chauffeur two mysterious young women around Los Angeles for a night of partying The star studded film features Debby Ryan, Sydney Sweeney, and even Megan Fox as powerful Vampires So will Benny make it out alive from his vampire party-hoping passengers before the sun comes up the next day? Looks like you’ll have to tune into Netflix on October 20th to find out! If nostalgia’s your thing, we have two more you should definitely add to your must see list! The first, “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is based on the novel and 90s slasher drama of the same name! The series, much like the films before it, tells the story of a group of teens who are involved in an accidental hit and run, and in the moment, they decide to dump the body and keep the murder a secret. But, as fans of the franchise know, the following summer the group of friends are terrorized while someone threatens to expose their dark secret. And if you’re worried it won’t be as great as the films, don’t be! Original cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr., ALL gave the series their blessing when they surprised the cast during a press interview for New York Comicon. And if that doesn’t give you your nostalgic horror fix, we’ve got you covered. Halloween Kills picks up where 2018’s Halloween ended, with horror icon Michael Myers burning and Laurie Strode played by Jamie Lee Curtis on her way to the hospital And, as with all of the films in the horror franchise, a gruesome and brutal night follows. Halloween Kills is rumored to be one of the last times Michael Myers will take on the big screen, but we don’t know that for sure, so guess we’ll have to see for ourselves – as it hit theaters on October 15th! The next series on our list isn’t exactly Halloween focused but it’s one the most surreal Netflix shows to hit the site in a very long time. Squid Game, aka Netflix’s Biggest Series Ever is a fictional drama from South Korea, which follows contestants who play children’s games in hopes of winning cash prizes. And, if they don’t win? Well, they lose their chances at the money, and unfortunately their lives. The show has completely blown up, everywhere from TikTok, to Twitter memes People taking part in squid game themed challenges And, even fans making their own Squid Game themed costumes for halloween. The film is clearly making an impact this season, in fact, according to Rolling Stone, Squid Game is among the most searched for Halloween costumes for this year! Now that we’ve counted down our top 5 must sees, we have one more bonus film to add to our list, Scream! The film won’t hit the big screen until January 2022, but judging by the trailer, the film is going to be totally worth the wait! From nostalgic re-made moments from the original Scream films To the return of some of the original cast members Fans are psyched to see the return of ghostface, and of course, totally ready to Scream again..
