I was really pleased to be able to match up a scene from the “Flying A” movie called “Nancy’s Husband” with a photo of the drifting Japanese summer home at the old estate in Montecito called Riso Rivo. (This estate no longer exists.)
The motion picture was released on June 9, 1914. It was only about 10 minutes long, but the surroundings in the movie was much admired by reviewers. “The scenes are most gorgeous and pleasing to look upon.”– Movie News, June 30, 1914 There are no existing copies of this movie.
Betsy’s Method Back When book– 1919– is now offered in regional bookstores and at Amazon.com. This is the 6th book in her series of the history of Santa Barbara, one year at a time. Discover more at betsyjgreen.com.
