Paramount Reveals They Won’t Cancel Old Movies And Shows Because People Are Offended – Giant Freakin Robot

These days, individuals seem to be upset by a lot of things. This includes films and reveals that are plainly outdated and were made in a time when people had a much different outlook on life and cultural concerns. That is definitely the case for a lot of movies that become part of the myriad of streaming platforms we have now. Nevertheless, the CEO of Paramount+, Bob Bakish, has made it known that the streaming platform would not remove offending products from its lineup. According to Bakish, “By definition, you have some things that were made in a different time and show various sensibilities. I do not believe in censoring art that was made traditionally, that’s probably an error. It’s all on demand– you don’t have to view anything you do not wish to.”

Bakish has an outstanding point in that typically it seems individuals are quick to get angered since they pick to be angered. There are methods to simply neglect the offensive materials that are delivered to us daily. Switching off the program for one, changing to something else for two, and 3 simply flat out ignoring it. However, individuals want to be champs for social justice, which is entirely comprehended as well. Nevertheless, one must understand that films that were made in the 1980s are going to inadvertently stink since that is how people viewed the world then. It is a bit absurd to get mad at a movie or program that was made 30 or 40 years earlier. And truthfully, there are far better programs to see nowadays anyway.

The truth that Paramount+ is stepping up and claiming they won’t change what is used on their platform is brave. Netflix faced the exact same sort of problems when promoting questionable comics like Dave Chappelle and Ricky Gervais. Now the streaming giant is in a lots of trouble. Well, that is mainly due to the drop in customers than it is with promoting the formerly mentioned comics. However, the drop in subscribers could be since of those comics being promoted. Still, Paramount+ is still new, and this take may anger some people.

Although Paramount+ is not giving in to the “woke” culture that exists nowadays, they are still quite inexpensive in regards to rate, so individuals may let this one slide. For comparison functions, Netflix costs $15.49 monthly, while Paramount is a mere $5.99 a month. Sure, Paramount does not have quite a much to provide in terms of programs and movies, however they are gradually growing. This hot take on not censoring older material might likewise suffice in bringing more attention to the streaming platform.

Paramount+ is starting to bring higher-profile material to the platform. The new Halo series was a hit and has already been renewed for a 2nd season. South Park has actually been launching their hour-long movies on the platform, and even Beavis & & Butthead are heading there too. Plainly, there is a ton of new content that is likely to offend people, however the older things needs to simply be passed over. Older films were a bit basic in terms of storytelling anyhow, so it should not be something that individuals need to immediately get distressed over. Just let it go.
