Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger just recently signed up with The Hang Zone on Sportsradio 96.7 FM/1310 The Ticket [KTCK-AM]to discuss his current agreement extension along with the upcoming NHL season. Here are a few of the highlights, edited for clearness:
Q: Congratulations on the new agreement. Were you fretted at all? You were a restricted totally free agent, did other teams strike you up?Jake Oettinger:”No none of that. I wasn’t too concerned about it, I understood we were gon na get something done certainly. You wish you might simply get it found out on the first day of the offseason but clearly there’s a lot more that enters into it than that. I enjoy with how it exercised, certainly I wan na play in Dallas my entire career if I could. So it’s a great start, understanding I’m gon na be here at least the next 3 years. “
can have playing hockey. It was one of the best experiences of my hockey career. Certainly we came out on the incorrect side, now it’s almost concentrating on what I can do this year to get us back into the playoffs and ideally have that chance once again. “Q: We’ve heard a lot about your daily routine, is it real you remain in bed by 9 p.m.? Oettinger:” Yeah in the summer season for sure, I exercise quite early in the early morning, so. When you get up that early, and typically in the afternoon I remain in the sun golfing, it’s not too tough to go to sleep early in the evening. “Q: What’s your day like, what time do
you get out of bed?Oettinger:”I’m typically out of bed about 5:15, I exercise at 5:45. Then, it
depends on if I‘m skating or not that day but I’ll exercise, and then I have a woman I go see for mobility, I’ll do that for an hour. Then if I’m skating I’ll go skate. If not and it’s good out I’ll head out to the golf course.
It’s a pretty enjoyable schedule, that’s for sure.Q: Maturing I
understand you went to a regular high school for a year, but then went on to some kind of a hockey advancement type thing. What was that?Oettinger:”Yeah after my freshman year at Lakeville [High School] I made the U.S. National team which’s based out of Ann Arbor, Mich., so I headed out there for two years and played for the U.S. National team out there for my sophomore and junior year of high school. I took summer classes and such so I could graduate early and after that I went to [Boston University] “Q: Rank these hockey films:” Mighty Ducks,”” Slapshot,
